“…and Moses stood on top of the hill and held up his arms. As long as his arms were up, the Israelites were winning. When his arms got tired, and he put them down, the Israelites started losing. His arms got tired, and he couldn’t do it anymore, so you know what happened? Aaron and Hur came to hold up his arms until the end of the day, and the Israelites won.”
As I told the story to my five-year-old, great realizations were coming to my mind.
I am Moses…
The battle of the Israelites with their enemies is the battle someone I know is fighting…
Moses holding up his arms all day is me praying continually for my friend…
The arms getting weary is me getting tired of praying…
Aaron and Hur coming to hold up Moses’ arms are my friends coming alongside me in prayer and helping me stay encouraged to pray more…
Continuing “until the going down of the sun” is us persevering until the battle is OVER!
